Overview

An initiative of the Darin Group and its partners grasped the opportunity to pioneer, a ASTM 615 GRADE 60 compliment production capability in constructing Erbil Steel Factory. Situated on the outskirts of the Kurdistan capital city Erbil, construction of the factory started in 2006, integrated steel production started DEC 2007.

Features & Facilities

The factory facility that produces its own energy supply, through its 32MW powerhouse has an annual steel production of over 240,000. Taking this into account its production and employment, Erbil Steel Company is currently the most prominent heavy industry investment in the region, producing deformed steel bars for the construction sector.

The rolling mill of the Erbil Steel Factory has been built over a closed area of 8,000m2, with a rolling speed of 7m/sec. a workforce of over 800 employees, including 85 experienced engineers, technicians helping to produce world class N12-N32 mm construction steel. 

With the ASTM 615 GRADE 60 compliant production, Erbil Steel Company continues to serve its customers by its professional and experienced dedicated workforce. Production of some 600 tons of steel daily from smelting of scrap iron at its steel factory rolling mill. Having successfully unified its sector requirements oriented mission with development focused on a forward thinking vision, Erbil Steel company is proud of its leading role in the steel production industry in Iraq.

Electrical Power House

Erbil Steel Company produces the electricity required for its factory facilities via five 6.4MW Wartsila diesel-generator groups. totalling 32MW. The electricity produced is used in the factory to smelt scrap iron and cast the steel and in the rolling mill to roll reinforced steel bars.

Thanks to its automatic compensation system controlled by an automatic reactive power system the electricity power house equipped with PLC automatic system keeps the power factor within the efficiency limits required, providing unwashed, harmonically filtered electricity to support the factory facilities.

In the fully integrated electrical powerhouse, all maintenance and operation is performed by the Erbil Steel Factories own in house team of qualified engineers and technicians.
